Join the Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County on Saturday, April 5, 2025, for the annual SWA Run AWAY 5K. The event honors the harmony of industry and nature by bringing awareness to recycling and solid waste issues, and features a new trail course on the beautiful SWA Greenway Trail System. The 5K begins at 7:30 a.m., rain or shine. The date represents a change from previous years when the event was held on a Sunday.
Individual, group and virtual walkers and runners are invited to participate. This unique race takes participants across varying terrain and through cabbage palms, cypress hammocks, marshes and lush pine flatwoods, with glimpses of Grassy Waters Preserve and the Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County Renewable Energy Park.
Running together has its perks. Gather your group of six or more and enjoy a $5 discount on each registration fee. On the registration site, click on the "GROUPS" tab and follow the prompts to form your running team or join an already existing group. All proceeds from the SWA Run AWAY 5K benefit the nonprofit Resource Depot, which sparks creativity, conservation and community engagement through reuse. Resource Depot is the only advocacy and education center in South Florida championing an eco-conscious lifestyle, striving to shift from convenience to respect for people and planet. You can join their art GalleRE, hands-on workshops and Materials Marketplace, where they meet the demand for affordable, eco-friendly programs and materials in art and education. Sleep-In Virtual Run AWAY 5K
Stay in bed, while all your friends get sweaty. Participate by signing up for this virtual 5K and receive a shirt and special bib. You'll be able to watch on Facebook Live the morning of the race.
