Palm Beach Autism Festival and Sports Carnival

April 17, 2014
Palm Beach Autism Festival

The galas, the walks, the runs, the golf tournaments – by mid-April the philanthropists, advocates, supporters and volunteers are exhausted, depleted and most likely are ready to head back up to the north for the season. BUT wait, before you retire for the season--enjoy one last hurrah at a new FUNdraiser for the entire family: The Palm Beach Autism Festival Presented by The Eppy Group. This unique one-of-a-kind event will be Friday, April 18 from 6 – 10 pm at Downtown at the Gardens in Palm Beach Gardens.

The entire community will enjoy a festival atmosphere with activities for those on the autism spectrum OR not. For the little ones (2-6) enjoy face painting, clowns, carousal and train rides, and fun and games at Cool Bean’s Indoor Playground as the first 50 kids under 6 get in free from 6 – 8 pm. A dedicated section with special sensory options will be available for those children with special needs. Discount pricing is available all day at Cool Beans for those who can’t make it at 6 pm – but still want to come out and have fun.

For the older kids (5-14) enjoy a site-wide scavenger hunt, candle making, wax hand making and pottery. And let’s not forget the adults, participate in a WILD Chinese Auction and relax in the sip and savor area with live music at center court by Harold Seay, the Boogie Shoes Man and original member of K.C. & The Sunshine Band. Plus enjoy a Mini-Art Festival by artists from “Artists with Autism”, interactive vendor booths and special musical performance by students from the Palm Beach School for Autism.

“This family friendly festival will appeal to the taste and interest of children, parents and everyone involved,” said Terri Neil, Autism Society Palm Beach/Martin County President. “We encourage the community to come out enjoy a night out together and support the Society in celebration of Autism Awareness Month!”

Admission and parking is free. Some activities and food and drink have a fee with proceeds benefitting the Autism Society Palm Beach/Martin County. Funds raised at the event will enable the Society to host support groups, provide more educational outreach and to maintain a local resource database to assist those affected by autism.
